Renewal of Spirit

I feel the spirit of renewal in the air. With the new program year around the corner, Chancel Choir, Sunday School, and Women’s and Men’s Spiritual Formation small groups, etc. are resuming. We will begin the new season with the Rally Sunday celebration on September 7th. We will have Ministry Fair after the worship. To go with a soup luncheon booths will be set up with information on various ministries that are happening at our church. Mary and Peter Danzig will bring their gift of music to both the worship and the ministry fair. Please think about inviting friends to the Rally Sunday. Friendly invitation from a trusted person is the most effective evangelism tool. We have created the invitational card “Looking for a Fresh Start?” for that purpose. Take with you as many cards as you may want when you come to church to worship.

A few words about worship in September:
– “God’s Table” is our worship theme.
– Green will be our liturgical color.
– A Statement of Faith of the Korean Methodist Church (United Methodist Hymnal, #884) will be used as Affirmation of Faith. We’ll go back to The Apostles Creed in Advent.

The worship team meets on the first Saturday of each month, from 10 am to 1 pm. We base our worship planning on prayer and bible study. That’s why we call our monthly meeting Worship Planning Retreat. It is open to all. Will you come and be part of our worship planning?

Finally, during the month of September many churches of all denominations and nations celebrate The Season of Creation. So I end with this declaration:

We join with the earth and with each other.

To bring new life to the land
To restore the waters
To refresh the air

WE join with the earth and with each other.

To renew the forests
To care for the plants
To protect the creatures

We join with the earth and with each others.

To celebrate the seas
To rejoice in the sunlight
To sing the song of the stars

We join we the earth and with each other.

To recreate the human community
To promote justice and peace
To remember our children

We join with the earth and with each other.

We join together as many and diverse expressions of one loving mystery: for the healing of the earth and the renewal of all life.
