Outreach programs at First United Methodist Church “help Christians respond to God’s call to serve their brothers and sisters who are in need through gifts of time, talent, and love.”
Here are some of the outreach missions the people of FUMC serve.
UMCOR – (United Methodist Committee on Relief) mission is to alleviate human suffering—whether caused by war, conflict, or natural disaster. We meet together every other month to assemble relief supply kits, including school, hygiene and birthing kits.
Clara Foundation – Young Pakistani girls are being educated and taught sewing skills in a school building funded by FUMC member donations.
Crossroads Urban Center – FUMC was one of the founders of the center established in 1966. Members of FUMC are active participants in the Food Pantry, Thrift Store and the Food Co-Op of Utah.
Family Promise – FUMC was one of the eight founding churches of Family Promise-Salt Lake, providing safe lodging and meals to homeless families within area churches at no cost to the families. We host the families within our walls 3-4 times a year.
Guatemala Mission – We have built three of the four medical clinics run by Salud y Paz in Guatemala and host mission trips to provide desperately needed medical and dental care to the people in small villages.
